Wellbeing
What is mental and emotional well-being?
Feeling happy is part of well being, but it is important to recognise it isn't the whole. Having feelings of contentment, enjoying everyday activities, feeling confident and motivated are all part of feeling mentally well. Having good self esteem and feeling self confident also contribute to overall feelings of wellbeing.
It is also important to recognise that everybody, at some point in their lives, will experience challenging emotions and feelings.
We aim to meet the needs of all of our pupils and families through our wider ethos and curreiculum. For, example, developing resilience and strategies for overcoming disappointment. This involves the implementation of strategies and practices that support the mental health and wellbeing of all pupils. This is delivered through our PHSRE Curriculum and using tools such as Zones of Regulation.
We promote a positive and inclusive culture that values wellbeing and supports positive mental health. We do this by demonstrating and promoting positive relationships between pupils and staff, by creating a safe and welcoming environment, and by encouraging pupils to express their feelings and emotions.
We have two designated Mental Health and Well Being Leads in school who are responsible for promoting wellbeing for our staff and pupils. Our leads are Miss Miller, senior mental health lead and Mrs Davison , mental health lead. We have a Well-being governor, Rebecca Brown, who supports our work within school .
